Outside Mercia Marina (Trent & Mersey Canal) – Tuesday 20th August

A very lazy but sociable day J

Stone
I met a Facebook friend for the first time this morning.  Barbara Wilson and her husband, Terry, sold up everything a few months ago and bought a narrow boat.  The only knowledge they had of boating was a disastrous holiday back in January!!  But they went for it and are now settled in Mercia Marina until Terry retires when they can become continuous cruisers.  It was really nice to meet Barbara and I look forward to meeting her again with, hopefully, Terry.

Macclesfield Canal
In the afternoon Val Storey came over for a cuppa (sadly Keith was working).  We met them three years ago when we went up the Thames out of Limehouse with them.  It was lovely to catch up with Val again and hear what they have been up to.

Meanwhile, between cups of tea and coffee, Richard finished rubbing down, priming, undercoating and top coating the starboard cant rail.  There was rust appearing through so it had to be done.  He is hoping to get the other side done tomorrow.

Muffin was spoilt by the visitors but was basically bored as he wasn’t really able to get off the boat.

Millie
I didn’t take any photos today so have included one from earlier on in the month and one of Millie, who is languishing at home being looked after by the daughter, Victoria.  Secretly I think she is happier there than on the boat.

  1. It was great seeing you both again too, Muffin is absolutely gorgeous. Hope to see you again next year when we can have a proper get together over lunch. Val x
