Shepperton (River Thames) - Friday 10th July

When we woke up we knew it was going to be a hot day and we weren't wrong.

We had a busy social day ahead which entailed a bit of house work first.  We have been inundated with spiders which needed rehoming and also there was a fair layer of dust to contend with!

Once Mary H was ship shape again we moved across to Shepperton lock and met our friends Barbara and Phil who were coming for a cruise and lunch.  We had a lovely trip up through Chertsey lock and then we turned round just before Penton Hook lock.  The sun was pretty hot and I'm glad that I had put my sun screen on.  Barbara and I stayed at the front nattering while the men were at the back doing the same!  We have been leaving the pram cover up with all the sides out and it makes a lovely sun shade for the steerer.  We went down to Thames Court in the hope of a mooring but it wasn't to be so moved upstream to the other Shepperton moorings and managed to get the last narrow boat sized space.  Lunch was eaten on the river bank but boy was it hot and we were very grateful when a wispy type of cloud bank came over.

Barbara and Phil left about 3.30pm and we relaxed ready for the next social event!  About 5.45pm we walked up to Thames Court, grabbed a large table outside and waited for my cousins to arrive.  Alison and Malcolm were first followed by Simon with his son and a friend.  Sadly young Ruby wasn't well so Kate had to stay at home with her.  We had a lovely evening catching up but it was all too soon to wend our weary ways home.

Alison, Simon and me.  Alison's father, Simon's mother and my father were siblings

It has been a lovely day.  We are so lucky to have good friends and lovely family but we have more family to come over the weekend.  Sadly I didn't take any photos of Barbara and Phil - we were obviously too busy talking!
