Saturday 10th September

To my regular blog readers you may have noticed that we are a week late in getting back to Mary H. A friend of mine died while we were at home and the funeral was last week so we put back our return so that I could attend. However it was nice to be at home but we’ve come back for a rest as we don’t seem to have stopped for the last two weeks! Unfortunately we have had to change our cruising plans as the Diglis river lock on the River Severn has got some closures coming up so we need to be through it by Wednesday. This means that we now don’t have the time to go down to Sharpness which is a great shame but we have promised ourselves that we will come back to the area in the car and see all the things we have missed! We came back up with James who then took the car back home. Thank goodness we did have the car as I realised that I had taken Millie’s litter tray down to Devon and when we got home I’m put it in the garage and then completely forgotten about it. Richard and James went off to Pets at Home to buy a new one. Richard went and paid our dues and then we set off in a strong wind – it was interesting manoeuvering around the marina. We only went a short way up the canal and moored up for the night. We stopped right by some lovely blackberries and as we had brought some apples back with us we picked a bowl full. The apples weren’t ours as they have had a blight this year but they are Ropley apples, thanks to Mary and Ray :-)
