Sunday 29th August

Millie has been very tired today – there were the remains of three mice in the boat and one on the deck this morning – then this evening I found another one under the chair! A greyish day with sunny intervals but it is windy. This part of the canal runs through some lovely countryside – Wiltshire at it’s best. We found another white horse too – that’s three we have seen now! We came through the very overgrown part of the canal and stopped at Pewsey for lunch. This part of the canal is through
the Vale of Pewsey and is lovely – there are rolling hills at every turn. At Cuckoo’s Knob (!) there are the last four locks which took us up into the summit pound. Up till now it had been a lovely day but of course as we got to the locks the heavens opened – I actually managed to get a photo of the rain coming in! We wanted to get to the top of Crofton Locks for the night and went down through the top lock and found a very nice place to moor.
