Weston Branch Moorings - Tuesday 21st May

Richard’s birthday J

We had to leave Maesbury Marsh this morning, which was sad as I had really liked it there – but all good things have to come to an end!  Still we were looking forward to our evening with anticipation!

The pound between Aston bottom lock and Aston middle lock was very low and we struggled to get along.  I left C&RT a tweet on Twitter and they replied saying that they had passed the problem on to their local office – the wonders of social media!

Muffin decided that he would investigate the bywash at the middle lock as it was not in water.  He jumped down and skidded as it was rather slimy.  He thought it was great fun but he was a disgusting colour when he came back!  I’m not sure that an apricot coloured dog with, it has to be said, rather short legs is not the cleverest dog to have on the canals!  We love him all the same J
Dirty dog
We got to the moorings at Weston Junction about 2pm and tied up.  Muffin loves it there with the large grassy area and was soon playing noseball.  It wasn’t long before we saw The Cat’s Whiskers coming down the Frankton locks – they were coming to join us for a birthday dinner J

It was a lovely afternoon and I had done two loads of washing and managed to get it all dry – a bonus after all the wet weather we have had.  Just towels and a duvet cover to go now – oh and I need to change our bed!

I had cooked a chicken chasseur as we went along this morning so just had the starter (prawn cocktail) and pudding (Eton mess) to do.  Maybe a bit old fashioned but nice and easy!

Birthday celebrations
We had a lovely evening with Julie and Jeff starting with sparkling wine on the picnic tables on the grassy area – unbelievable after last week.  In fact we have only sat outside twice since we set off and both times with Julie and Jeff!  We must meet up with them more often!

    1. We loved the Monty too. It's certainly on the list of "must go back to". Hope you enjoy Gloucester and the Tall Ships.
