Before setting off Richard wanted to finish his painting and I wanted one final visit to Waitrose as we have friends coming for lunch tomorrow.
I got back to Mary H just as Richard was finishing the painting so we were able to get ourselves ready to move on quite quickly. It was nice to be on the move again though I had enjoyed being in Kingston.
It was a lovely trip up to Shepperton though we missed getting into Molesey Lock again and Sunbury was on self service and the chap who had gone up there to operate the lock really had no idea what he was doing even though there are good clear instructions – I think he thought he knew better! Up under the lovely new bridge at Walton and along the old part of the river as we wanted to moor at Manor Park but it was full – there was one narrow boat sized space but there was small boat in the middle of it. We continued on and found a space on the Weybridge side of the river which is very nice but there is nowhere to sit out.
We took the little ferry over to the Shepperton side and went and browsed in Nauticalia. The ferry is very expensive £2 single and £3 return for a 100 yard trip! However we got we wanted which was a key rack. We had an ice cream at the Lock Café and sat out in the afternoon sun.
It has been very hot this evening and as there is nowhere to sit out it's been hot - even on the back deck.
I think Richard is a bit fed up this evening as we managed to mark his brand new paintwork whilst waiting for Molesey lock – we had only been going for half an hour!
I've fallen in love! Opposite us is a Dutch barge which is for sale. She looks lovely and has recently been reduced from £180k to £100k – what a bargain!
